San Diego on Fire

Well it was.

Im glad it's almost over and that I am back at my apartment. We got evacuated Monday morning because the fire was just across the freeway, within 1 mile away from our place. We stayed over at our friend's house in Chula Vista for two days. It felt like two weeks.

It was the scariest feeling to not know if your apartment, your home, burned down? No words can express how scared I was the past two days.

Im glad Im home!

my life : updated

SCHOOL
has been really busy. I practically have a test every other day. But I like it. I look forward to going to all my classes. Maybe it's my friends that make school easier.

SAN DIEGOis growing on me. The first time I moved down here, I wasn't enjoying it. The night-life was a bore, the malls could not compare to the malls in L.A., and friends? what friends?

It's actually getting better now. It's damn healthy down here and the weather is weird but awesome. I'm starting to enjoy being down here. I'm even considering staying after I graduate. Not too close to L.A. but not too far either.

PERSONAL
life is confusing. I'm going through a change in my life and I'm at that point where I don't really know where I'm heading. There's just too many options and choices to make. I always think that "I have to choose the one that means most to me..." but it's easier said than done.

I don't really want to get into detail about my dilemma because I'm already getting confused, imagine you.

FAMILY
my mom is in the philippines for business. I miss her. I know when I moved out of the house, I barely saw here, but knowing that she's half way across the world, makes me miss her more. My sister is back at home, doing her first year of college. I'm proud of her and sometimes I kind of envy her for who she is and knowing who she is at such a young age. Heck, when I was 18, I didn't know who I was. I guess kids these days grow up faster than how we did. I swear, I'm talking like Im old.

TRAVEL
I get to go to Chicago this Thursday through Sunday. It's a short vacation, but I need it. I'm going with Ollie and our friend Nadine to visit her boyfriend. I can't wait. I get to wear my sweaters and jackets becuase I heard it gets pretty cold there. I finally get to put my winter clothes to use.

So I guess that's about it... I need to do my drug cards for my Pharm. class. I have 45 more drugs to go. Yay! I'ms o looking forward to it.

Here's a look at me, two and a half years ago. Dude I was so fucken ugly hahah!

Bye!

JBX & The Girls Weekend: pt I

What a better way to spend a free weekend than to have your best girl friends from L.A. come down to San Diego. Imagine having seven people's weekend free - all at the same time. That doesn't come very often, so we took advantage of it and had a JBX & The Girls Weekend.

The Girls (Lerissa, Kathy, Lauren and Melissa) came down from L.A. on saturday night. Ollie actually joined them on coming down because he was up for some family bonding with his brother earlier that day. Nadine and I were already down here. We decided to go to Pacific Beach "PB" that night. But of course, before we head down there, it was time to get ready - my favorite.

We headed down to PB and hit up the Pacific Beach Bar & Grill. The place was packed. There was a line outside to get in. Once we were in, we got some jagermiester shots. That shit was strong. I'm pretty much low tolerated so I was getting a little buzzed after that shot. We also had some coke & rum, some more shots and some drink with tonic.

After the bar, we headed down to the dance floor, to obviously - dance. The dance floor was full of drunk older men preying on skanky dressed women. Just our scene!

To our surprise, the place closed really early, so what do seven buzzed kids do after dancing? Take the dancing out in the parking lot. We had more fun playing silly outside than inside the venue.

After our little fun and game on the parking lot, we headed over to our friend Nadine's house. I thought we were just going to sit down in a circle and just talk about life - but I guess the party wasn't finished until one of us knocks out. We cooked corned beef and rice because we were all fat and hungry. Melissa got some drinks and we played twister.

I totally don't remember how this night ended, we probably just all knocked out and woke up the next day for our part II of the JBX & The Girls Weekend.

Another memorable night - our lives in Bernardo Hills.

PART II : pool, orgy and Ra Sushi!

The Evening was Extravagantly...

My baby's so sweet. He planned out our two year seven month anniversary. The first part of the day was spent on the beach - Ollie blogged about our "beach day" and our "Sunflower dinner" last night. You can check it out on his blog - tactology.

He also planned a surprise dinner for the second part of our anniversary weekend. Not knowing where we were going, I was both anticipating and wondering what was to happen tonight. All he told me was to dress warm and trendy - as usual. We had a little photo shoot in our bathroom, just to make sure that we looked okay.

After our photo shoot, we headed out to our dinning destination. Like I said before, I had no clue on where we're going. I was guessing on the way, and with all the clues that he told me, I thought we were going to downtown San Diego, since that's where we always go to have a nice dinner.

The freeways we took were different, so downtown was out of the picture. I was excited to see where he's taking me. We ended up going to La Jolla, I believe it was the La Jolla Cove on Prospect St. He took me down this street that was pitch black, I couldn't see anything. We parked and once I opened the door, I smelled the ocean. Since it was dark, I couldn't tell if we were anywhere near the sea. He told me that we were next to the ocean and it would have been really nice if the sun was still out. Even without the sun, the evening was starting off beautifully.

We walked up a dark stairway to the street full of restaurants and galleries. We strolled up and down the street trying to figure out where our restaurant was located. We finally found it, but since our reservation wasn't until 9 o'clock, we took advantage of the time we had and walked around the strip.

We visited a lot of art galleries, since the strip was full of them. We specifically liked the "Martin Lawrence Gallery" because it held a lot of contemporary modern pieces - we're not really interested in older art.

We were so inspired by the art that we saw that we thought it was cool to make our own "city lights" art.

We headed back to our restaurant. "George's", because we were a bit hungry. It was still a bit early for our reservation but the hostess said that our table was ready. The restaurant was divided into three different rooms: George's bar, California Modern and Ocean Terrace. Our reservations were in the Ocean Terrace which sits atop the building and overlooks the cove. It was pretty dark out already, but the dim moon light illuminated the waves crashing on the sand. It was beautiful. We were seated and the environment was modern with a romantic touch. It was really nice to have a nice little dinner with my Ollie and just talk about anything and everything.

Our food was delicious... We started out with the crispy calamari, some white wine and a pepsi - for me!

For our main entree, Ollie had some penne pasta (braised lamb shoulder, artichokes, roasted
tomatoes, peas, olives and minted ricotta cheese)

... and since I love chicken, I had the Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast (ragout of fingerling potatoes, asparagus, roasted garlic, pearl onions
and mushrooms in a roasted chicken jus)

Both entrees were delicious. I recommend this restaurant for any type of ocassion, whether it be a date, a family gathering or a Sunday lunch. For more information about this restaurant, you can go to their website and check it out.

What better way to end the night but with a trip down to Starbucks. Ollie got a vanilla cream and I got my favorite, a simple mocha frapuccino with no whip. Starbucks was already closing so we sipped our drinks and walked back to our car.

I love my boyfriend for planning such a wonderful, romantic evening for both of us. It was totally unexpected since we normally just celebrate our month anniversaries with just a simple dinner at home. It was great to escape our crazy busy worlds, even if it was just for a night. I look forward to days like these.

Another memorable night - our lives in Bernardo Hills.

JBX - one beach day

To kick off our anniversary weekend, my ollie took me to the beach. This is our second time going to the beach since we moved down here - but first to actually get in the sand and tan. I'll update more later because this is just the first part of our day. Here are some pictures from today...

I know - my boyfriend is hot - and not to mention really really sweet. I LOVE HIM!

What would you say if someone asked you: "What do you think of Wednesday?"

- Middle of the week?
- A day before Thursday?
- It's only Wednesday?

how bout... SLUMBER PARTAY!!!

Yes! Slumber party is what comes to my mind when I hear Wednesday. Well just for yesterday. My friend still has the pictures, so I'll post them up when she gets the chance to e-mail them to me.

new place. new life. pt. 1

THE LIVING ROOM

I don't know if I have said it before, but Ollie and I moved south to San Diego. Rancho Bernardo to be exact. It's in the northern part of San Diego, almost close to Escondido. We moved down here to attend school. We've been here for about a month and a half now and we like it down here.

It started out pretty rough, adjusting to the what time stores/restaurants close, how far the nearest grocery market is and how far the gas stations are. We're somewhat used to it now. School's been hard but I love it. I'm not the type who have to study too much so studying isn't the hard part. It's waking up early to get to class.

Our apartment on the other hand, is nice. Places in this area of San Diego tend to cost way too much, but our apartment, for the price, it's wonderful. We had fun decorating our apartment. We painted the walls because we thought white was overrated. We didn't really have living room/dining room furniture beforehand so we had to buy almost everything. Here are some pictures of our living room/dining room

Our seating area -

Our t.v. and another seat

The living room.

Dining table.

I love our plates. Its black and purple. and It's square. Im tired of circles!

Our dining/kitchen area.

I was going to take pictures of our kitchen but there's nothing in it really. Just a stove, a ref., a rice cooker (of course), a toaster, a microwave and a sink. Oh and a bunch of cabinets and stuff. Nothing different.

Our theme for this living room is -simple- And it is. We chose gray walls, black anchor furniture and hints of purple and yellow. We love purple and yellow. We're really happy with our apartment.

I'll take pictures of our bedroom next... we just need a little bit more time to fix it.
